a planned reissue for many years, the untimely passing of steve coe shortly after the label s rerelease of the ganges orchestra s the dream put everything on hold. however, time moves and so now seems a fitting time to revisit this -world dance- classic with fonder hearts. long cherished, it is a reminder of steve s enduring studio mastery. after the initial success of his work with sheila chandra in monsoon, steve expanded his musical scope, working on an indipop compilation as clubs looked to eastern flavours to add a new dimension for the dancefloor. teaming up with tabla disciple turned teacher, jhalib (millar), as well as long time collaborator martin smith, it s hard to imagine mysteries was first heard in 1982. hailed as an all time classic, it s enduring appeal can be seen in how it became a staple for the likes of danielle baldelli at the infamous cosmic club and beyond to become an original evissa -balearic- secret play for weatherall & co in those fateful summers of love and beyond. remastered especially for this release, the orchestral eastern melody and mid-tempo chugging rhythms and vocals marry in perfection with a dub bassline of wobble inspired depth. this alone would be enough, however, the original is at last backed with the 1988 remix. aimed at the then burgening new beat scene, a subtle straightening kick is added, but it s the unmistakable vocals of sheila chandra that finally brings this release together in melodic harmony. peace be with you steve. i am x

repress - with vocal interplay recalling the temptations’ work with norman whitfield and a jazzy instrumental sophistication equal to the blackbyrds, 100% pure poison certainly deserve the notoriety that their lone recording has garnered them. as a group of american servicemen stationed in germany in the ’70s, it’s amazing that the album was recorded at all. leaving their base using a forged pass, the nine-piece group turned up at a music industry conference looking for a recording deal, and proving that the higher the risk involved, the greater the payoff, they got one with british emi.
although coming right at you was largely overlooked at the time of its release in 1974, it never really faded away, consistently being revived and heralded as much for its rarity as its quality. guitarist and group leader danny leakereturned home to chicago, where he has worked as an engineer and producer with a wide array of artists, including stevie wonder and janet jackson. coming right at you was made widely available again when it was finally reissued by u.k. label soul brother.

for its 303rd release, tresor records is glad to present a commissioned work by donato dozzy. rome based production maestro and dj extraordinaire donato dozzy is unanimously considered as an illustrious leading light in all techno artforms. along his long career and extensive discography, dozzy has proven to use his instruments most interesting ways, always re-inventing his music, always presenting new approaches to both the deeper and the more rhythmic forms of electronic music. it was self-evident to tresor records to enroll donato dozzy’s talents for this assignment, a nod to the seminal roland tb-303 bass synthesizer. the result is a relentless collection of radical, propulsive and bleeding-heart acid tracks. donato dozzy wishes to dedicate this work to his lifelong friend filo.

repress - part 2 of 5 to be released over the coming couple of months. originally released on the phono label in 1995/96 the ‘parts’ series from matthew herbert are a much loved collection of house tracks that sound just as original and bold today as they did when they were first released. this series of 12”s were part of an early wave of exploratory dance music that paved the way for the deep house that still works its magic on dance-floors in 2018 some 25 years later. the mix of herbert’s playfulness alongside expertly grooving production and unusual sounds makes this unique collection of work. the odd few tracks aside this is the first time that these releases have ever been repressed. all newly remastered for this reissue series, the releases include stone cold club classics such as ‘deeper’, ‘take me back’, ‘resident’, ‘people that make the music’ and ‘see you on monday’.
